I fell in love
With a memory.

A memory of cold nights
Made warm.

I fell in love with
Past thoughts;
Beautiful dreams,
I wished to come true.

I fell in love with
The softer side
Of your demons.
Because their secrets
Spoke to my own.

You see,
I am just a simple
Creature,
Craving love and
Affection.
Gentleness and
Understanding.

A simple creature
Whose shadows
Are darker than
Any rescuing light
Could shine upon.

A simple creature
Looking for peace,
In the arms of a devil-made
Angel.

My heart was buried
Under the remnants
Of a forgotten poet.
Lost between the
Sheets of crumpled paper
And buried in the metaphors
Of a poem.

Oh, my love,
My secret stargazer,
Dance this dangerous dance
With me.

Dance into a new beginning.
Because as long as
We love as one,
Our eternity won’t feel
So long.

And because lovers never
Die.
