I dreamt of you last night.
I heard your voice and
Followed it down the winding
Path to your world.
The darkness loomed over me,
But your light lead my way.
Bad Memories of the past,
Would stop me in my tracks,
Jolt my senses and make me
Want to turn back.
But, your voice,
Like a Siren song,
Filled me with peace
And lulled me back to life.
The path opened to a clearing;
Sun-drenched and beaming,
There you stood.
You stretched out your hand to
Me and I hesitated, for a moment.
Only a moment.
Because I knew.
I knew what we both knew.
That the colorless world
Around us,
Means nothing without
The kiss of true love.
When our lips touched,
The clearing was set ablaze.
The heat of our energy
Coursed through the trees
And spread through the atmosphere.
Lost in a haze of passion,
I didn’t know what was real
And what was not.
But I knew in my heart
That my love for you was true.
I woke from my dream,
Heart pounding,
Sweat dripping on my skin,
And look to the naked pillow
Next to me.
You’re not there,
Perhaps you never were.
But the ache in my heart,
And my bruised lips
Prove otherwise.
I hear your whispers
In my mind,
Once more.
“You’ll be mine forever.”
But what is forever,
When eternity tastes like you?
