Haunted

The darkness in me
Reaches out to you.
Because you bring the light
And the salvation to me.

My broken heart,
Like some haunted creature,
Tries to break free from my oubliette.
Clawing at the trapdoor,
Screaming for release.

You are the sun,
Heating from my frozen core.
You are the moon bathing me
In your white light.
Your words resurrect
My broken body
From my shallow grave.

I wear my darkness
Like a collar around my neck.
Like cement blocks
Chained to my ankles.
Like a veil,
Hiding my true form
From everyone I know.

But then you appear.
Writing the words
To dreams, I’ve never told anyone.
Lacing them with memories
And broken wishes,
I’ve never uttered out loud.
How could you know me?

You stab the source of
My pain.
Rip it open and pull the
Torment out of my past.
You deliver me from my Hell.
Silencing my demons.

I look into your eyes
And I see my own reflection.
I see my own face staring
Back at me.

You are no stranger.
You are the ally I betrayed
All those years ago,
In the name of love.
The one I locked up
Behind fiery walls
And forgot about.
The little voice inside.

Redemption calls to me,
When I look at her.
Destiny smiles at me,
When I kiss her.
The stars wait for me,
When she holds out her hand;
Waiting for me to fly.

So I leap,
Into the black void.
Trusting that my
Feet won’t touch the ground.
I am the White Knight.
The Huntress.
My Savior.

Because I am not alone.
