The Lost Ones

I love you.
I think I always have.
But we’re no good
For each other.
We both know that.

We keep fighting
To save a thing
That doesn’t need
To be saved.
We keep trying
To fix a thing
That can’t be fixed.
We keep trying
To resurrect a dying story.

I am your dream.
You are my nightmare.
Together, we are dark fantasy.
Trapped in a prison
Of our own making.

I can’t live without you.
You can’t breathe without me.
We are doomed,
In the darkened palace,
We’ve built.
Devoid of color and light.
Guilded with broken mirrors
And heartbreak.

But, we were crafted
For each other.
My body,
Your blood,
Sculpted and shaped
To fit each other’s wants
And needs.

Bound to each other forever.
Bound by our pain
And our past.
Bound to each other
By our future.

Our love is an unearthly gift
That can never be taken back.

We keep trying to
Find our way out
Of this haunted maze.
Turning every corner,
Confused and afraid.
But if we give in,
Just let it be,
We could thrive
In this gloomy garden
We’ve constructed.

Because we are
The Lost ones.
Still searching for
Our way back home.
Still waiting for a love
We already have.
Still waiting for the sun
To shine through
The bars of our frozen dungeon.

But, at least we
Can wander this broken
World together.
Trapped in this shadowy
Dance forever.
