You were beautiful.
Your kisses were like honey and danger.
The warmth of your skin, set my soul on fire.
You were unpredictable and I knew it.
But I let you draw me in,
And you pulled me into the future.
Oh, I was hooked.
Addicted to the heat of your love and words.
Addicted to the turn of pretty phrases of poetry and prose.
I hung on your every word,
drinking you in like you were life itself.
Undone by the flecks of gold in your eye.
Mesmerized by the way you spoke my name.
As quick as you came into my life, you were gone.
Like a wisp of smoke.
Evaporated tear drops.
You disappeared.
And I was shattered.
You were a shock to my system.
You were the magnetic pull, grounding me,
Anchoring me to the planet.
I saw life through your open eyes.
You changed my world.
Made me want to do better.
Made me want more for myself.
With whispers of the future and dreams of the skies,
You showed me a place that was not my own,
but something much bigger.
It hurt when you left.
But the lesson was taught and received.
Paint the stars with your tears and your pain,
And when tomorrow comes, life will become anew and you can make it yours.
So I’ll be ok, love.
I’ll fix my crown.
Keep on going.
Living my life.
With just a hint of danger on my lips.
