The Poetry of Confessed Sins

From what I remember,
This is how you fall in love.

Not like a fairytale that
You’re told at bedtime.

Not how the love songs
On the radio describe.

No, you fall in love
Because you can’t sleep
Without them next to you.

Hearing their heartbeat
Quicken in their chest,
Because of you.

Laying in bed,
Staring up at the ceiling,
Sharing fears and fantasies.
Confessing sins and
Weaknesses.

Dropping the veil of
Your darkness,
And letting them see you truly
Naked.

Love comes like
February stars,
Mythical and poetic.

A simple sacrifice
Of light and dark,
Your secrets for mine.

An undying commitment
To seeing the beauty
Inside the beast.

Love
Is
You.

You,
The wide-eyed child
Behind the mask,
Clinging to the shadows like a
Security blanket.

You,
Who stirs my soul
And inspires me to pen
The many futures
Of us.

You,
The one every word
Is written for.

So when you’re ready,
Come find me
And remind me what poetry
Is made of.

Because I have long since
Forgotten it
And you are a better teacher.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.
