The night comes
And it is sultry and hot.

I lay here,
Sheer & wet
With little drops of sweat
On my patterned skin,
Like I’ve taken a
Midnight skinny dip to desire.

You’ve cursed me to dream of you.
And oh, how that set my soul on fire.

Desiccating my nights
Upon the holy ground
That is my crooked soul.

Fingers tracing where your
Rolling tongue intertwined
With my graceful thighs.

You struck the match,
That lit my Spring in heat.
And cooled it
With your Midnight showers.

Burning the bridges
That connected my heart
To the darkness
I so desperately clung to.

Perhaps this is the best revenge.
To feel my mind opening-up
And letting you in.

Because for so long,
I fought myself,
Drowning in decaying dandelions
And dismay.

But tonight,
I’ll spend it
Slow dancing in the rain.

With your memory,
Like dipped roses on my lips
And marks of desire,
Where your hands have just been.

I’ll spend it,
In love.
Like some Shakespearean
Balcony flirtation.

Slipping on leather,
And writing the epilogue
Of our hidden tale.
