I knew it was time to leave home.
I knew that I needed to escape,
I had to.
I needed to be free.
I had been scared for so long,
And my heart wouldn’t stop hurting.
The sun had ceased to set
On my happiness,
And nightfall became a nightmare.
It was time to go.
And when I did,
I came upon a wondrous place.
A place where summer is beautiful
And bright.
And felt like home.
But not the home of my childhood.
The home of my fantasies.
And you were there,
In the shade of your trees
And the smell of honeysuckle
In the breeze.
I looked around and I fell in love.
For it was magickal,
As were you.
And I knew that I wanted to be
The most glorious rose in your garden,
To be loved and cared for,
To be plucked and nurtured.
I had spent the better part of
My life,
Drawing dreams in drowsy darkness,
Waiting for something to happen.
Waiting for a spark.
Waiting,
For you.
And so,
On this night I’m waking up to
Dying Moonlight,
And the world is on fire.
But I am not afraid anymore
For I know that I am safe,
Because you are here,
And you always will be.
And I’ll never have to search for
Home again,
Because home is you.
