For too long,
My whole being was clouded,
Smothered by the chaos
That enveloped me.

I was lost in the darkness,
You see.

Taking a dangerous journey
Through my mind.

Where I wandered through
The streets,
With broken wings.
Burdened with shame and pain
In my heart
And anger in my lungs.

Eventually making my home in
A place called alone.

Until I discovered myself
Within the shadowed
Window panes
And found the sunlight
Again.

Until I opened my soul
And felt it’s warmth
Course through me.

Felt my pain turn to joy,
With the foresight of what’s to
Come.

And learned
That my memories are just that,
Memories.

They don’t write my future,
I do.

And where my future lies,
Love is there.

Where my dreams travel,
Absolution is there.

Dreams are all I have,
But love lets me go.

Heals the damaged parts of me
And gives me a reason to fly again.
