Our poetry reads like
Sadness,
Mixed with agony,
Written with struggles.
Yet we still walk in the
Shadow of love,
Leaving our addiction
To pain,
In our wake.
Because,
Alone,
We are tortured souls.
Left at the bottom of the well
To drown.
But together,
We offer each other a lifeline.
A rope to climb,
To crawl up out of the muck.
To kill our way to the heaven
That’s just on the other side.
We’ve lied,
We’ve hurt,
We’ve survived.
These are things that
We had to do
On our own,
To make it through.
But with each other,
Our sins are forgiven.
And we’re made clean again.
And if by chance,
I go before you do,
If I see the sunrise
On the diamond streets
Of paradise,
I’ll wait.
I’ll wait until the end of days
I’ll wait for the universe to
Send me a sign that you’re on your
Way.
I’ll wait for you.
