I have repeated the
Words over and over
In my mind,
And they still don’t sound right.
I don’t know what I want to say,
And I’m losing this fight.
I thought I was superhuman,
With an ability to put aside the
Echoes of heartbreak and just
Write.
But my mind is caught up.
Caught up
With thoughts of how
I cried for us.
Thoughts of how I believed
In us.
Was I that foolish?
Was I that blind?
Did my heart see
Something I refused to?
Because tonight,
I want to write
To loveliest lines.
Lines about romance
And beauty.
Lines about kissing
And shooting stars.
I want to write about loving you.
But I’m stuck in a
Dance of pen and paper,
Waiting for the words to flow and
Bloom underneath the moon.
I’m hungry for beautiful phrases.
I’m poetically starving
For intricately crafted lines.
But all I can do is read
Over lost love letters,
And let the tears blur my eyes.
All I can do is scribble your
Name,
On every blank page.
All I can do
Is dance underneath evening
The sky,
Alone.
Waiting,
Wishing,
Hoping.
Maybe I’m only human,
After all.
Because I’m still broken,
Missing you.
And the words just won’t come.
