Back To You

Tonight is almost like the
Night we met.

Sweltering
With burnt orange
Streetlights glaring
Under the misting rain.

The only difference is
You’re not here,
When I need you most.

I sit for awhile,
Looking out of the window
Reminiscing,
Hurting,
Crying.

The music rises
In the background
Just like the heat outside
And I’m inspired.

I begin write flowing poetry.

A slow striptease with words
About broken mirrors
And finding strength.

Poetry about the night
I crossed the street and
Ran right into you.

My eyes were bleary
From salty tears and rain,
And when you held me,
For a split second
I saw our future
And our past.

I blink my tired eyes
And I realize that I’ve been
Staring out of window,
For so long,
My tears have dried.

So I take my pen,
Dip it in the ink
And remember that night
Again.

For every word
Every song
Every melody
Leads me back to you.

Because, everything always does.
Because, everything is you.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.
