A Hopeful Ending

We’ve had a
Tumultuous beginning,
You and I.

Endured things
That are unspeakable.
Lived in the shadows
Of our nightmares.

And yet, in each other
We’ve found a home.

I can see your pain
Like a flash of lightning
In a clear blue sky.

You can hear the sorrow
Of the abandoned child,
In my weary cries.

And I can feel your
Search for freedom
Every time that you kiss me.

You see,
I fell in love
With the darkness inside of you.
Because it offered me a dream.
A dream for a hopeful ending.

A dream of you.

A dream where we
Don’t have to run
Anymore.

Where we don’t have to
Hide.

A dream where we can
Lie in roses and tulips,
Counting every star
In the sky.

Maybe I’m being
Cautiously optimistic.

But it’s only because,
I have looked
For you in every
Ring of the inferno,
And I think I’ve finally
Found my last resting place.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.

  1. The pairing of this graphic with your poem is genius. I love it. It reads like two people stripped down to bear bones running to a world colored by life saving happiness in each other, and the quiet peace of being together to rebuild. I loved this. It was extremely enjoyable to read, and read like two people running towards a beautiful quiet escape. Finishing it with image was perfect. Thank you for sharing this, you made my day.
