Weathered Warrior

This is a piece I wrote in honor of International Women’s Day. I do hope you enjoy it.

She’s grown weary,
And her sword is heavy.
She has fought too many
Battles and still has more
To fight.

She’s a weathered warrior,
Unafraid but gentle.
And fights for her daughters
And her sons.
She fights for the sisterhood
Of solidarity,
And for all those that will come
After.

Her feet are tired,
From battling in the mud,
And her hands are torn
From fighting the wolves.

But she wipes her brow,
And trudges on,
For the lioness soul
And the fire in her belly
Won’t let her quit.

Though she’s grown weary
And her sword is heavy,
She fights so they won’t
Have to.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.
