In this moment,
There’s no one else.
Just you and I,
And the gentle caress
Of the breeze.
It takes me back
To the night,
I was so full
Of heartache and wine,
That I penned
Quiet poetry to the one
I longed for.
I touched your picture
As I wept,
And prayed that you would
Hear my voice through
The repeated lines.
I poured my soul into
Every stanza,
Telling you how much I’ve
Always loved you.
How much I’ve always needed
You.
You have my heart held hostage,
Though, in truth,
It is a silent surrender.
Because to you,
I can’t stop saying no.
When you held
My gaze for the first time
After you read my letter
And didn’t look away,
I knew then,
That I was damned.
Your savage beauty,
Your gentle voice,
And the way you
Command my body,
Leave me no other choice,
But to give in to you wholly and
Completely,
And give you all of me.
Give you every hidden part
Of me.
I stole the moon for you,
My love,
Because it rivals the way you
Shine.
I plucked the stars from the sky
For you, my love,
Because their light cannot
Compare to yours.
And here,
On the edge of the world,
When tomorrow seems so daunting,
I confess it all to you, again.
That I am not complete
Without the feel of your touch
Or the smile on your face.
That of all the lives we’ve lived,
This is my favourite,
The one I’ve dreamt every night for.
And it all started with a poem.
A poem I wrote for you.
