The Masquerade

Would you love me forever,
Even if…

My gilded walls crumbled, and you
Met the creature trapped inside?

Would you love me forever
Even if…

You knew my deepest
Shame and all the tears I’ve shed?

For I have seen the
Face behind your mask,
The beast within,
And I would give you my heart
And my love in this life
Or the next.
You would never have to hide
Your pain from me,
And I would never run away.

So take my hand,
And let’s dance through
The midnight menagerie
Of smiling faces and
The shadows of the past.

Let’s glissade around
The echoes that haunt us
At every step
And survive the night until it’s
Time to say goodbye.

And then I will embrace
You one last time before you
Disappear into the golden
Dawn.

I will take off your mask and
Hold your face in my hands.
Kiss you, as lovers do
And whisper secrets in your ear
That are only meant for you.

Because your darkness feels like
Warmth to me.
The type of warmth I’ve been dying
For.
The type I’ve been searching for.

And here I’ve found it,
At the stroke of midnight,
Upon the lips of a broken-hearted
Soul.

One that looked exactly like mine.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.
