There is beauty
In the way you say my name.
The need in it.
The desire in it.
The gentle tinge of
Longing in it,
Just out of reach.
There’s layers to it,
Like canvassed clouds
On a chilly winter’s morning.
It’s as quiet as
The longest goodbye.
And as deep as the
Fiery passion that
Smolders in my bones.
You lay there,
Next to me,
Erasing fear
With every utterance
Of my name.
With passions owned
And soul devoured,
I wear the mark of your
Love,
Like purpled bloomed bruises
On my heart.
And when you’re not here,
I’ll write the words that signify you
Just the way that I remember you.
Bleed them onto the page,
In not just another love poem,
But of a prayer of hope
And heartbreaking hunger.
