I told you,
I would walk away.

I would let you go,
Because you needed it.

Your mind was too dark,
And your heart was too heavy
And you weren’t ready
For what our love could give.

So you pushed me away,
Until I had no choice.

And I left,
With the roses that you gave me,
The thorns pricking my fingers,
As I went.

I’ve been chasing shadows
In your stead,
Watching the clock tick by,
Waiting.

And the thing is,
I believe that I will always
Wait for you.

Because as the old line says,
“For you, I would.”

I would set the other side of the moon
On fire,
With the kerosene in my hands.

I would burn with every star,
And stand in the pure light of
The sun,
To be with you once more.

Perhaps I’ll see you in my dreams,
Because it’s the only way
You’ll let me love you again.

And maybe there,
You’ll understand
Just how beautiful you are to me.

Just how how much our souls
Belong to each other.
