I have searched
For so long
For someone
That would understand
The darkness inside of me.

And then you came,
On a starless night,
To take me away.

I knew you once upon a time.
Somewhere lost in a dream
Or a distant memory,
Maybe even another lifetime.

I forgot your name,
But I knew your face.

I knew every line,
Every curve,
Every freckle of your cheek.

I knew you.

I had questioned my
Mortality,
Contemplating if I was even real.
Or was I cog in the machine,
An actor in a play,
Created in someone else’s mind.

But you gave me
All of the answers
That I had ever sought.

You made see the moon
On a cloud covered evening,
And I saw everything.

The beauty
And the magick.

Strange,
That I had never thought
To look up,
When you were there,
The entire time.

And now we’ll be free,
Like children in the summertime.

Free to runaway
And carry on.

Free to be ghosts
And never look back.
