I ask the moon
A question,
A question about
You.
And she tells me a story,
A long, heartbreaking tale
Of what we used to be.
I cried till
I screamed,
As she cradled me in
Her arms,
When she spoke of
What we shared.
And then I asked the moon
Another question,
Another question about you.
She smiles a sad smile,
And the sudden ache in my
Throat burns,
Because it confirms what I
Already know.
Our last goodbye was more
Than that,
It was the ending of
One lifetime
And the beginning
Of another.
Young love lost
And gone.
Who we were,
Is not who we are.
But one day,
We’ll hold each other again.
One day,
Forever will be ours.
And though right now
It hurts to breathe
And tomorrow feels so lost,
I know that somewhere
Out there,
In another timeline,
You’re waiting for me.
Waiting for me in the moonlight,
Where I’ll see your face again.
