I live for moonless
Nights by the sea,
So that I may
Write my secrets
On black sand
And swim under the
Shadowy waves.
I have vaulted hopes
And sanguine wishes,
Of a life lived with you
By the briny deep.
And like butterflies,
Delicate and fragile,
They fly away,
Off into the stars
To live and die once more.
I close my eyes and breathe in
The scent of saltwater
And I feel free.
I know in the deepest
Parts of my darkened heart
Redemption lies in wait.
Because you are the beginning of something rare and the very ending of me.
