Terrors lurk at midnight
And loneliness grows in its stead,
Yet I’m safe in this coffin of tears.
Safe from the world outside.
I hide from the future I fear,
Chasing shadows of yesterday,
Away from the uncertainty of
Tomorrow.
Away from what my life could be.
But I see you in the mirror,
With your hand outstretched
To me.
Your smile spreads across your
Face,
And I’m awestruck by its beauty.
Your eyes are dark and haunting
As nightmares in paradise.
And I feel them burning in my veins
As though you see through my disguise.
I take your hand,
And feel the chills run up and
Down my spine.
Until now, you had been a
Phantom,
An apparition,
In my mind.
You hold me close,
And touch me slow,
I’ve reached the
Point of no return.
Because I’ve made the choice
To lay with a wraith,
Or are you the Savior
I’ve mourned?
Before dawn breaks,
And we turn to dust,
We dance among the
Fallen,
Inside their shadows in the mist.
We kiss until we’re burning.
We make love
Under the goddess’s eye,
One last gift to her
And we take our fill of
Oblivion’s soul,
We drink until there’s no more.
My eternal love,
My hell-spawned mate,
I’ll see you very soon.
Because when I wake,
I’ll be with you,
In the garden of our wounds.
