Look at Me

The song said,
“I needed to lose you
To love me.”
And I felt that in my
Soul.

Because I wrapped
Myself all around you
And lost myself in your
Poetry.

I jumped off the moon,
And flung myself
Into the night,
Because your eyes
Were the color of stars
And I wanted to feel
Their shine on my
Face.

I felt you slip
Through my fingers,
Like grains of sand
And my heart ached
For so long, after.

I cried,
Until I couldn’t speak,
And my throat burned
With the tears, I tried
To not shed.

But, time passed,
And I grew stronger,
Until the song played,
And I heard your
Words again.

They set fire to a memory
I had long since forgotten.

Now, I lay wide awake,
With you on my mind.
And I want to fly back to the moon,
With your hands all over me.
Because I have seen our future
In your eyes.
I’ve seen what we become.

A love like ours doesn’t die.
It only grows.

Now, I’m right back at the beginning,
Wanting you,
Like I need air to breathe.
Like I need your touch,
To live again.

So look at me with those
Saddened eyes and know,
You’re all that I want.
You’re all that I’ve hungered for.

And I miss you so.
