Tonight I embrace love
And the scent of freedom in the air.
I release the sad silhouettes of
Yesterday
And the life-long love
Affair with pain
To become the villain in my story.
Obsessed with being the hero,
And making the world safe for
Others,
Despite my tears,
I pushed my heart
Aside and swallowed my pride.
Until you.
You showed me the power
In letting go,
The power of shedding tears
And walking away.
Tired of being the hero,
I embraced my role,
And let the world spin on its
Axis,
Into oblivion,
Without me.
I spent too many nights
Worried about them,
And how they felt,
When my own heart kept dying
From neglect.
But then you came
And set my world on fire.
Lit the night with your
Flames and felt alive for the first time.
I let my heartache vanish between
The fiery blaze and the echoes
Of us.
I surrendered it all to you.
