This Poem is a Coffin

This poem is a coffin,
Where my thoughts of you
Die to live again.

The words have been
Written out of spite
And heartbreak
Longing and tears.

I dip my pen into
The ink and begin
A conversation with
Myself and my dreams.

I paint a picture of you,
With adjectives and phrases,
Lyrics that describe the beauty
Of your smile and the
Richness of your eyes.

I see your face forming
Before me and I cry through
The pain,
Trying not to fall in love again.

Because to fall for you,
Is to open myself up
And feel the bloody stings
Of Cupid’s arrows
Piercing my heart once more.

I sit back and read
The mosaic of roses and
Yearning that is the depth of
My love for you.
And our song plays over
And over in the background,
Justifying the truth in them.

I close my eyes and imagine
You’re here.
Holding me,
Wanting me,
Loving me like you used to.

But you are so far away
From me and everything we once
Were.

And here I am,
Dancing alone with your memory,
Still feeling the ghost of your
Kiss on my cheek.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.
