Autumn’s Last Lament

Summon me home
Where my heart lies
With the misty mornings
And solemn skies.

Call me back to the place
Where we shared our first
Kiss,
Underneath a frosted moon
And you held me close
On those chilly nights.

Because now all I have
Are a collection of forgotten
Names and hazy dreams
Blurring the edges of my
Memory.

I’ve gone into the labyrinth
Of yesterday;
Lost to the grey,
And the poetry of broken
Hearts,
With nothing but the stars
And the scattered recollections of
Your smile to guide my way.

And in those words,
I see your face,
And I miss you more than I can
Speak.

I let them cocoon me
In days gone by
For I need you more than I
Can stand.

Because your love
Warms the winter in my soul
And fuels the life that still
Burns deep inside.

May these words be
Personified as
Autumn’s last lament,
Because the Spring
Will bring on golden days.
And then you’ll come back to
Me.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.
