River of Tears

We begin where the
Moonlight ends,
Walking along the riverbank
At midnight
Stealing the stars as they
Fall from the heavens.

Hand in hand,
I look to you,
And I see our past
Selves in your eyes.

I see the garden of good
And evil we’ve written about,
In poems long before.

I hear the longing in your
Voice and how my name doesn’t
Belong to me when you say it.

We stand here,
Letting the waves of sadness
And pain takes us away
With arms wrapped around
Each other,
Hoping the current doesn’t
Pull us apart.

Because hope floats
And heartbreak won’t
Be the end of us.

Time has passed
And I walk alone,
Along the same stream
Where we robbed midnight
Of its treasures,
And I cry into the late hours,
Shouting into the void,
How much I miss you.

How much the night reminds
Me of you.

Because when these clouds
Bleed to paint the sky
And bring them to life,
They still couldn’t paint
Darkness on my skin,
The way your touch has.

I step into my watery atonement
And cleanse myself in a river of tears,
Because you are beautiful,
And though you are not here
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved.

And you will live forever in me.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.
