Only Lovers Left Alive

I can’t resist your voice
In my mind,
Because when I close my eyes,
It’s all I can hear.

Not the thrumming of my heart
Or the racing of my blood.
Only your voice is present there.

You speak me to of ancient
Things,
Things that only our souls would
Know.

And I feel those words flow
Through my veins
Replacing my new memories
With old.

When you’re not here,
I burn a candle,
To remember the look
In your eyes.
The look of bliss
Of ease
Of serenity
And how you no longer
Feel dehumanized.

And though you made peace
With those lonely years
And your ghosts still drive the
Pain,
I pray for you,
In my own way,
That you may be released
From your iron chains.

Because though your demons
Are plenty, and they
Sleep soundly in your
Chest,
A love like ours can set
You free
If you just acquiesce.

And when the night comes
And the raven skies are full
Of tears,
Your heartbreak is nothing
But a distant memory.
And gone all your fears.

We will walk the lonely road
Beyond the miles of
Yesterday,
To make it to the other side
Where our nightmares,
Fade away.

In this place,
We disappear,
We take a leap into the void.
It’s peaceful here.
It’s finally quiet.
We can make this place
Our home.

Because only lovers left alive,
In our dark sweet fairytale.
So give me what I’m dying for
And let our love prevail.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.
