In the stars

Keeps playing

I wrap my arms
Around my body
And close my eyes,
Swaying to each beat.
I’m dancing with ghosts
Of goodnights and goodbyes.
Reminiscing about why
You loved me and how we
Were destined to be.
Staying up till the light
Breaks through my window,
And I remember nights like this.
You and I falling in love,
After each pulse,
After each note,
After each verse.
I remember it all,
Before chance dealt us a
Fateful blow and
The bond between your
Heart and mine was
Cut too soon.
I miss you more than you
Know, my love.
And though I pray that one
Day you’ll come back,
I let the song play one
More time,
To let you go.
