Shattered Tears

The sun is rising
And I can feel
The first stings
Of its warmth
On my skin.

I can hear
The birds
In the forest
Began their
Daybreak song.

And here I am,
Eyes closed,
With the morning
Dew pressed into
My skin,
Glistening like
Diamonds
In the light.

But,
Though the day is
Coming with a
Promise of something
Beautiful,
My soul is heavy.
Burdened with
Scars and mournful
Memories.

I feel like I
Could shatter
Into a million
Pieces,
With my heartbreak
And my tears.

I watch the stars
Disappear behind
The clouds
And your voice
Plays like a song
In my mind.
The highs and lows.
The vibrato and the
Harmony.

I breathe into the dawn
And the smell of
Rain
Fills my nostrils.
Along with it comes
The beautiful pain
And sweet release
Of yesterday.

I shudder at the memory
Of your sudden goodbye
And choke back a sob
Of woe,
As the rain begins to fall.

I cry as the rain pours,
And let go of it all.
I scream when the
Lightning cracks
And wail as the
Thunder bellows.

When the storm passes,
I feel relief,
Much like the trees
Around me do.

I sigh when they
Bend in the breeze
And I know that I’ll be
Alright.

Today mercy
Smiles down
Upon me
And I know
I will live on.

Today I will live on.

I've always had a passion for writing. In this crazy world that we live in, I find my solace in made up words and make believe stories. Let's escape into the void and forget about it all just for a moment or two.

  1. Dear Kim V., I love your poetry. You are my muse tonight. Dear poet. We need someone to excite our soul. Today I drink and I try to remember. What love and passion should be. I wonder who kill passion? I know. I did. Thank you for your wonderful poetry.
