Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜
I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. Mine has been really good so far! I’m actually in the writing cave right now, preparing my pieces for this week. I’ve been inspired to write some mental health-themed poems, and I hope you like them.
For the quote of the week, I chose this one because it’s something I have to keep telling myself.
“Stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings, and emotions.”
Damn, that’s like a shot to the heart.
We’ve talked about this before, being a “people pleaser.”
Doing everything for everyone to the detriment of ourselves.
We’d rather see others happy around us than ensure WE are happy.
And that’s fine; it’s human nature.
But what happens when WE need someone?
Many of those people that we bend over backward for don’t see our struggle and often tend to criticize us instead of being sympathetic.
It’s the ones to whom we seek their approval that hurt us the most.
The ones that we worry about if they’ll still “like us,” “love us,” or “understand us.”
The ones where the texts go unanswered and the phone calls go unreturned.
We become a bundle of nerves, constantly wondering if we said/did the wrong thing to them.
We worry about them. They don’t worry about us.
That’s not healthy, my loves.
So to those that take advantage of our kindness and devotion, I say they can kick rocks.
We don’t need to seek their approval, vie for their attention, or anything else.
We deserve better than that.
So be careful with your heart and your mind, my loves.
And always remember:
You deserve to be happy.
You deserve the world.
You are ENOUGH
Have a beautiful week, and never let them take your shine because you shine so damn bright. Take care 💜✌🏽
Love Always,
KVP
