Nights Like This

It’s nights like this,
That remind me of you.
The salty taste of the ocean filling the air.
The feel of it spritzing my cheek.
The lowering sun, casting a golden glow on my skin.
I’m reminded of your laugh.
The touch of your hand on my thigh.

It’s nights like this,
That takes me back to our first night here.
Sitting around the bonfire.
Listening to the crackling of the kindling.
The hearty smoke enveloping us.
Our eyes meeting from across the way.
The fire dancing in your eyes.
The fire burning in my belly.
It’s nights like this,
That I wish you were here.
By my side.
Once again.

Nights like this.
