Under the curve of the sun,
I gathered dewdrops,
Waiting for you.
I waited so long,
That the rain took your place, instead.
And then I gave in.
Surrendered the moments
Of innocence I had left,
And let its dark whispers ignite
A fire in me.
A summer’s bonfire and a wreckage of dancing ensued.
And I could not control it.
Nor did I want to.
It must’ve heard my cries of
Ephemeral passion for you.
Felt the tender tension
Build in my body,
Like a coil ready to be sprung.
And like scattered roses
In the breeze,
I felt free to beam and bloom,
With memories of your lips
On mine.
Oh, those sweet,
Seductive raindrops you sent me,
Were like carnal wishes granted.
And they dripped onto my tongue
They tasted like cherry wine.
They tasted like you.
