Beauty and the…

Imprisoned by my thoughts
And my past was my jailer.
I dreamt of escape.
I dreamt of release from its hold over me.

I was a lost and broken thing,
Until you lifted me out of the ice,
And breathed warmth back into
My frozen body.

The snowflakes resting
On my eyelashes and melting
Onto my skin,
Fell down my face like tears,
When you touched me.

I had no more cries to cry,
My broken heart had seen fit to that.

The pain of old memories
And traumas were too much to bear.
I had run for so long,
Attempting to flee from the gruesome
Place that I called home.

I was a lonely thing in that life,
Until your light overtook my dark.

I was alone in my cell,
Awaiting my execution,
Until you plucked me up off the floor,
And gave me a reason to breathe

I stared up at the stars,
Each night,
Biding my time,
Until my old friend,
Anubis would take me home.

But then you appeared.
Valiant and true.

The unexpected ending to
My tragic fairy tale.

The quiet voice in the shadows,
Whispering “Love’s Philosophy” deftly
In my ear.

The beautiful one,
Loving this creature,
That lives inside of me.
Doomed to repeat my sins over and over.

We are a dark love story,
Come to life,
And you are the one I’ve been waiting
The only one who could possibly
Break my curse.
